Pregnancy Massage

 

 This 30 hour course prepares body workers to provide support for the mother to be through all the stages of pregnancy, labor and postpartum. Students will learn a wide assortment of techniques specific for addressing the physical and emotional challenges that arise during pre, during and post pregnancy. Challenges that may arise include morning sickness, hormonal changes, muskuloskeletal strain, preparing the perineum, indigestion, labor support, fetal considerations, anxiety, postpartum belly.... 
 
Many of the techniques covered such as Side Posture massage are highly beneficial for the general public as well. The course will integrate techniques from Swedish, Muscle Sculpting Deep Tissue, Reflexology, Acupressure and Polarity Therapy and Ayurveda. 
 
Dates: Classroom Oct 14-Nov 4  (Mon, Wed) 9am-1pm,
Clinic: Nov 6 (Wed) 1:45-4:45pm
KTInstructor, Katie Mickey brings 28 years of private practice to the classroom. She serves as director of the Santa Barbara Body Therapy Institute and has provided preganancy massage instruction for a pregnancy massage study involving staff from Saint Francis Hospital, Fielding Institute and UCLA Medical School.
  

 

 

 

MaryQiGongInstructor, Mary Sullivan brings 34 years of bodyworker practice to the classroom. She is a licensed Acupuncturist, Craniosacral Therapist and Registered Polarity Practitioner as well as graduate from Pacifica Graduate Institute. She maintains a private practice in Northfork, Fresno and Santa Barbara.  

 

 

 

  Instructor, Aparna Khanolkar, Ayurvedic Lifestyle Counselor, Panchkarma technician and postpartum doula brings the Ayurvedic traditional practices to her work with mothers and students. She is the author of "A Mother's Blessing,' postpartum care for new mothers. Recently she was interviewed for the National childbirth Summit as one of the experts in postpartum care for new mothers.
