FootReflex Greetings!

When tissue is too painful or injured to touch, how do you induce healing chemicals without direct contact? One of the brilliant aspects of our miracle body is that we  can literally SPEED HEALING through reflexive techniques without touching the acute area in need. Pressure to the reflexes in the hands and feet allows healing chemicals, blood flow and nerve impulses to be directed to areas  in need. This is especially effective with areas that are acute, swolen or too painful for direct touch.

When  the mind is racing, anxious and preoccupied, how do you calm and center its acitivity? One of the calming aspects of our mind body is our ability to ground and open the negative pole of our bipolar currents.  Grounding the mind/body can be as simple as a long barefoot walk on the beach or a thourough foot rub, reflexing deeply the nerve terminals in the feet.

brainenergy   When  need  or stress arises between family and friends, how do you reestablish wholeness and connection  with spontaneity and ease?   One  of the unifying aspects of our mind/body is that we have the capacity to share a  reciprocal flow of bipolar currents between self and other.. Establishing touch connection, while opening bipolar currents can inspire deep feelings of peace and ease.  Pulsing the nervous system and glandular reflex points can release blockages in nerve flow and circulation and  induce waves of relaxation and healing chemmicals.

Reflexology has a myriad applications for addressing acute and chronic pain as well as mind/body distress.  We invite you to consider what is possible with Reflexology in our upcoming  intro, course and clinic..

Katie Ocean Speed healing and waves of relaxation be with you,

Katie Mickey

What students are saying about Reflexology

"The number one thing I do for myself is Reflexology. I knew the benefits immediately when I came into the clinic and had a Reflexology clinic 18 months ago. I downloaded the process and feel of it. I can do this on myself every day. Why not? I can have a dramatic change of energy.  Adrenals are the number one issue for most folks, so that is what I worked on. High energy is the name of the game.  A year after my first Reflexology session, I started walking barefoot.  For years I had to wear shoes for my stability and had a lot of sensitivity. After Reflexology my feet shifted.  I can now walk on stones and feel very strong." Dan Debroux,  CEO, Business Coach

"Wow, I have been in the bodywork field for 29 years and I have never felt the energy in my body or in a client's body the way I feel it in this class. I am so excited. You know, my ankles get very swollen from poor circulation. After a reflexology session they are normal again. Yesterday, I felt like I had gained 5 pounds- my whole body was swollen. So, I decided to do Reflexology on myself. I saw results immediately. Today, the swelling is gone and I feel lightness in my feet. I feel like I lost 5 pounds!"  Irina McBride, massage therapist and esthetician at a Five Star Resort and Spa

"For 3 days I've had this major knot in my back- kind of like the 800lb gorilla when you are trying to live your life, and all you want to do is get rid of it. During the session the pain went from an 8 to a 3 when you worked on my feet. Then you worked on my back it eased up even more. When you went back to my feet- it fully released. The pain became like a remnant; it felt like fresh air moved through my system."  Kevin Gleason, SBBTI client

"Before class, my neck had been tight and bothering me. I also had fractured my fibula and jammed my ankle. My big toe had been numb ever since. After Friday's Reflexology session, the entire vertebra in my neck popped into place and the tension in my neck was gone.  During Saturday's session Katie worked on my big toe. I regained sensation in my toe. For the first time in 3 months, my toe feels awake!"  Gabriel Mann, 550hr student, therapist for the US Olympic Medical team

"Learning Reflexology validated beliefs that I hold about the connection between the energy zones and the feet.  It gave me a much stronger awareness of my body mechanics and helped me shift my stress response. Before I started the course my hands were exposed to toxic chemicals that made my skin severely blistered, raw and swollen. The stress of that shifted tremendously during the course. It was a huge benefit to refocus how I dealt with the condition and my body's capacity to heal. My hands are now so much better."
Barbara Loveless, Reflexology student

"Before receiving Reflexology my back was really bothering me. On a scale of 1-10 it was about a five. During my sessions I had a lot of strong sensations, I got really cold, when my kidney points were worked on - my teeth were chattering. Now I feel really great and have no pain in my back."
Tony Torrez, 550 graduate, and Iraq Veteran

"I wake up with more energy.  I'm a lot more clearly minded now. I shake off things that are bothering me and get through my day with gratitude and wellbeing. It's changed me a lot in body, mind and spirit. I'm developing into the person I'm very happy to be."
Amanda McColpin, 550 hr student,

"Reflexology sessions are part of standard care for bariatic patients (patients undergoing gastric bypass or lapband surgery for obesity) where I work at the Essential Touch Spa in the Scottsdale Healthcare Shea Medical Hospital. Patients get 2 spa treatments following their surgery. I do Reflexology on the feet, hands, and head. The sessions allow for self-esteem building and life-style counseling. For many of our bariatric patients, it's the first time they have experienced therapeutic touch or massage therapy."
Amy Zak-Urban, Massage Therapist at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea Medical Hospital,

"My ankle was bothering me from an old injury over thirty years ago. The last two months pain intensified and I went to a physician's office that Friday morning of Reflexology class. My pain was near 10 on a 1-10 scale, 10 being most painful. After the Reflexology Intro, I felt immediate relief and more that night and after two days, I had a 1 on the scale and the swelling was down 50%. My walking is improved as well felling better balance, a lighter step and just more confidence in stride. I had close to 10 pain level and I didn't realize when I came here that I would physically benefit so much. I thought I was just going to learn how to help other people. My time at SBBTI is healing me, making me stronger and happier!"
Patricia Schneider, SBBTI 250 hr grad

"My fiancé had broken his neck in a diving accident 10 years ago that left his index finger numb with paralysis. He attended our free Reflexology intro and within half an hour of receiving Reflexology along the diaphragm line and the zone which related to his numb finger, he started getting sensation back in the finger. I've continued to work on his hand for a few minutes a day and the renewed sensation has continued.  He was a skeptic. Now he is totally sold. This morning, he was in our backyard doing the chi gong exercises that Katie taught."
Beverly Philips, 250 hr student

"I felt a layer of fear leaving me as you worked on me. I didn't even realize it was there. It was in the background of my awareness, when I received the Reflexology work, it came to the forefront and then it disappeared. It was a fear of rejection.  Now I feel lightness and tingling all over, it is quite wonderful."
Lola, free intro participant and clinic client

"Of the modalities I have learned, reflexology has proven to be the most powerful and effective I do. I consistently witness my clients benefiting from the work and becoming convinced of the power of reflexology and bodywork in general."
Allie Thompson, SBBTI grad,  therapist at a Five Star Resort & Spa

"I've been experiencing a lot of inflammation in my joints, especially the hands. Yesterday, I received a hand reflexology session. I attribute the swelling to too much sugar in my diet and how my body processes the sugar. Yesterday after my session, my mind was less compelled to have the sugar. I usually wake up at 1am, 3am and 5 am, needing to pee, feeling pressure and swelling in my lower pelvis. This morning I didn't wake up until 5am. My joint and bladder all felt normal- no pain or swelling. I'd love to greet every day with Reflexology and the host of  bodywork modalities that I've received since becoming a student at SBBTI."
Miche Osborne, cancer survivor, SBBTI 550 student

"My wife says I am the tensest person she knows. After giving and receiving Reflexology I feel the most relaxed I can remember. For the first time ever I can feel a pulsing energy in my hands."
Reflexology Intro Participant, Gary Ulam

"I was having a stressful day and when I learned I was going to get a reflexology treatment my first thought was, "that is not going to be enough, I need a full body session". I am amazed at how transformed I feel after my reflexology session. I feel really great, alive and flowing."
SUnny Peterson, SBBTI 250 hr grad

"For my body and my sport, Reflexology IS Sports Massage. When I need help to stay healthy and balanced for training and racing, Reflexology, Craniosacral Therapy and Lymphatic Drainage are what make a difference in my body. What racing cyclists need are immune and digestion support. Cyclists are hunched over for hours at a time, often breathing in pollutants and putting high demands on our bodies.  This time around on our next Ride Across America race, I am making sure all my support staff have training in Reflexology and belly work for all the cyclists on our team."
Sonia Ross,  SBBTI Swedish instructor and Nationally Ranking Cyclist for Ride Across America

"I have had a chronic pain in my left shoulder for more than fifteen years. I went to a doctor in Thailand who wanted me to have a surgery on my shoulder. One day it was really bothering me during student clinic.  My instructor, Katie grabbed my foot, instead of working on my shoulders; she worked deeply on my foot. I felt a lot of pain there. I had no idea. I thought I had very healthy feet.  Katie also worked on my shoulder a little bit. After ten minutes, I felt really relaxed and the tension was released. The next morning the pain was gone. In the weeks following I continued as the pain came and went working on my left foot. Katie kept telling me that my shoulder pain was related to my digestion, so I changed my diet. I cut out dairy and meat, by day four of my new diet the pain was totally gone and now I feel great. I work in a restaurant where a lot of people get pain on that same spot and on their arms from carrying heavy plates. Now I apply the reflexology and acupressure points on the arms and hands in short moments in between orders. In minutes they get relief and relax."Yee, 250 hr graduate

"The biggest thing for me was all the spinal points. I've had a lot of mid back pain that affected me at work this week. The spinal reflexes on my feet were intense. My back feels really good now after my session. I feel a release, like the spinal fluid is flowing. I feel smooth." Zack Seeds

"I feel good---like I've been defragged. I really like it. I feel like my energy field has come alive from being dormant. It's as if my energy is scrubbable. I'm really excited to be able to share this healing with the seniors I work with and with all my clients, especially those who don't like to take their clothes off." Kelle Evans

"I had a car accident two years ago.  I was too weak from the accident to make it for a massage session. Nothing I had been trying medically was helping. I finally forced myself to come and received a Swedish. Following my session, the therapist recommended that I go to the intro to Reflexology. I loved it and decided to take the whole course.

Day one of class I came in with a cane for balance and walked out with no cane. I was able to put away chairs and help with the clean up.  I felt perfectly balanced. It was amazing! Normally at this time of day I am wiped out because of fibromyalgia but my energy felt great.

Day two of class I didn't need to sleep. I had lots of energy. (I normally sleep a lot during the daytime.) I was able to stand and do the golf ball exercise and now I am able to sit cross legged on the floor. I can't remember the last time I have been able to that!"

Day three of class I was able to do the opening exercise without my cane. I picked up the massage table and chair to set up my treatment space by myself. I wasn't able to do any of those activities before. I've never felt grounded like this in my whole life.

Day four of class I left the cane in the car. I went up and down the stairs like a normal person. I haven't done that since 2006. I used to have to go one foot at a time and pull myself up. I feel a heat through my body when healing is happening and I feel great. However I am sad about the class ending as I want it to last forever. I will do these techniques with my son because he has asthma and I tell him 'this has made such a difference in me that it could make a difference in you too.'
