Tan Prelude Two, Kal Mansur
ON EXHIBIT : ART INTER/NATIONAL

The public reception for the 14th Annual Art Inter/National Exhibition was held on January 17th. National artists John McLaughlin, Carolyn Barritt, and Paul Kruger traveled to Pittsburgh to join us for the evening, as well as our own local artists Richard Claraval, Tony Cavalline, and Jim Studeny!

Canadian artist Kal Mansur received the "Art Inter/National Best of Show" award for his acrylic construction, Tan Prelude Two. Mansur accepted the opportunity to lead our 2016 Exhibition Year as our 2016 Artist of the Year! A visual artist specializing in acrylic/plexiglass sculpture, Mansur's artwork is borne out of a love of architecture and a kinship with Minimalism.

Inter/National artists Revital Falke and Belgin Yucelen were interviewed by Sally Deskins, founder and curator of Les Femmes Folles (LFF). Les Femmes Folles is an organization supporting women in art through the LFF blog and books, visual exhibitions, panel discussions, and performing events. Read the interviews.

The exhibit was also featured in the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, 'Art Inter/National an impressive showcase'. Read the article.

Art Inter/National continues on exhibit until March 13th!
WAYS TO MOVE, Kevin Bielicki
KEVIN BIELICKI : 2015 ARTIST OF THE YEAR

Last year, American artist Kevin Bielicki was BoxHeart Gallery's "2014 Art Inter/National Best of Show" recipient for his wall mounted wood  sculpture, Rings no. 2.

It is with great pleasure that we begin this exhibition year with our 2015 Artist of Year: Kevin Bielicki and his debut exhibition in Pittsburgh, Ways to Move, which will be on exhibit from March 17th through April 10th.

Bielicki's sculptural forms are inspired by a culmination of previous work that includes both painting and sculpture. These forms, inspired by nature, include structures that represent life found under the sea as well as on earth, and beyond. Bielicki's representations are primarily composed in wood then combined with contemporary materials like steel, fiberglass, plywood, and paint. By merging these materials, Bielicki is able to emphasize the connectedness and unity of the unique individual parts that create a body, as well as document the reliance on the persistence of time and space.

The mediums artists use define the form of their visual expression. Each work of art expresses the artist's subject in the context of their values, culture, and events specific to their lives. This visual shorthand reveals to their audience a new way of seeing a familiar thing, and a new way of interpreting that thing, intentional or not, from a tool box of associations that are already familiar.

The Unspoken exhibit features eight very different artists that created collaborative artwork by visually communicating. The resulting artwork is a stunning and fascinating display of form, color, texture, and composition, processed as another form of language with its own vocabulary, grammar, and syntax.

Visual Collaborations by:
Kyle Ethan Fischer + Joshua Hogan, Joshua Hogan + Brenda Stumpf, Romi Sloboda + Kuzana Ogg, Kuzana Ogg + Jennipher Satterly, Nicole Schneider + Shawn Watrous.
