HARNESSING FIRE AND WATER TO POWER BLACKSMITH SHOPS AND SAWMILLS

Who            Trades staff at Wade House historic site

What            In association with the Wisconsin Science Festival, join the
trades staff at Wade House Historic Site to learn how
Wisconsinites harnessed fire and water to power their
blacksmith shops and sawmills.  See the inner workings of
a water-powered sawmill and swing the smithy's hammer
when you visit these historic shops.

Guests will have the chance to visit the lower level of the
Herrling Sawmill and see the inner workings of the mill in
action.  While visiting the blacksmith shops, guests can
experience first-hand how fire alters metal into a malleable
substance when they try blacksmithing for themselves.
