JOIN US FOR BREAKFAST AT THE WADE HOUSE

Greenbush - On Saturdays, July 9, August 20 and October 22 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., Wade House historic site in Greenbush will be hosting Breakfast at the Inn, a foodways program in which participants will have the opportunity to enjoy a delicious hearth-cooked meal, prepared with their own hands, in the historic Wade House stagecoach hotel.
Authentic recipes from late-19th-century cookbooks will be referenced
During Wade House's "Breakfast at the Inn" participants help chop and stir ingredients for the morning hearth-cooked meal.
as guests chop and stir, season and roast, preparing their morning meal. When the breakfast preparation chores are complete, guests receive a guided tour through the stately stagecoach hotel and learn about the respite which it offered to weary travelers along the plank road between Sheboygan and Fond du Lac in the 1850s and 1860s.
Once breakfast is prepared, participants gather family style in the lovely Wade House dining room for a wonderful sit-down meal with lively conversation. The menu will feature a delectably abundant feast of New England pancakes, eggs and tomatoes, toad-in-the-hole, pork sausage, quick biscuits, fried potatoes, baked apples and coffee. This satisfying encounter with central Wisconsin's past concludes with everyone pitching in to clear the table, wash dishes (19th-century style) and sweep the hearth.
Breakfast at the Inn costs $45 per person, and reservations are required. If you have any questions about the program or would like to reserve your spot at the table, please call 920-526-3271. Private Breakfasts for groups of 10 to 20 may also be arranged.
The Wade House historic site is one of 12 Wisconsin Historical Society historic sites and museums. For more information, please call 920-526-3271 or visit www.wadehouse.org.
