Did you know the Villa Louis Historic Site was once home to the "Artesian Stock Farm," a premier standard bred training facility? Louis and his wife, Nina Sturgis Dousman built stables, barns, a race track and other buildings. The stock farm business launch was barely completed when 37-year-old Louis suffered a fatal health crisis - believed to be a ruptured appendix. Just  a few months later the horses were sold. Each September Villa Louis recalls the days of the Artesian Stock farm during the annual Villa Louis Carriage Classic.
