WELCOME TO RUTIZ FARMS
HAPPENINGS AT THE FARM
Craig will have his wood fired pizza oven at the farm stand this Friday. He tells me that one of his special pizza creations will be using our baby broccoli, feta cheese and red onion for toppings. Only $10 for a delicious pizza, eat here or take home.
Check out our newest item...edible flowers..we have a tasty mix of special flowers that would add beautiful colors to your salads.
Summer fruit season has arrived. We have some great peaches, nectarines, plums, and apricots. Grown with no pesticides and/or certified organic.
What's in the box this week:
A simple and delicious way to prepare the zucchini squash..cut the squash lengthwise into stripes about 1/4 inch thick, cover with a little olive oil and seasonings, put them on a hot bar-b-q grill or under a broiler for 5 to 10 minutes on each side until brown and crispy.
The fruit in this week's box will be Blenheim apricots, "dry farmed" by Mike Cirone of See Canyon. Dry farming results in the fruit being a little smaller, but higher in sugar and flavor.
This week's avocados are the Hass varietiy grown by David Righetti of San Luis Obispo. Let them sit out on your kitchen counter ( or put them in a paper sack with a ripe banana or apple to quicken the ripening process ) until they are soft, but not overly squishy!
