WELCOME TO RUTIZ FARMS

NEW ITEM AT THE FARM STAND:
Heirloom garlic grown by Pacific Organic Farm in Creston.  We feature some of their exotic garlic variety such as Chesnok Red, Idaho Silver, Penasco Blue, Susanville and German Red.  Check out the descriptive informational sign at the garlic display that explains how each variety tastes and it's uses.  It is grown certified organic and all the varieties are priced at $7.50/ pound ( don't worry, you don't have to buy a whole pound at a time...you can just pick out a bulb or two to try out).

WHAT'S NEW IN YOUR HARVEST BOX THIS WEEK:
Our own "4th of July" tomatoes are small but tasty!  A great size to  use the whole tomato sliced up to make a sandwich..(so you don't have to figure out what to do with the other half )

Use the tat soi and bok choy as a braising mix...cut them up and add them to a hot skillet together with some olive oil and garlic and onions.

This week's celery is a bit on the small side ( as compared to the huge, watery stalks that you find in the supermarket ), but it's great flavor more than makes up for it's lack in size.

A simple and delicious way to prepare the zucchini squash..cut the squash lengthwise into stripes about 1/4 inch thick, cover with a little olive oil and  seasonings, put them on a hot bar-b-q grill or under a broiler for 5 to 10 minutes on each side until brown and crispy.
