Arroyo Grande, Ca 93420
Please make sure that you are signed up to receive our weekly email newsletter (go to www.Rutizfarms.com for signups).
Please note: I must have a final box count no later than the evening of March 31 ...I am leaving town for 2 weeks on April 2 and I need to have everything figured out so I can pass along the instructions to my staff before I leave!
We also plan to use the following schools as pick up locations: Montessori Children's School, UMCC, Bishops Peak School and Pacheco School. If you are interested in picking up a weekly box at these locations, please check with your school's Harvest Box coordinator for sign up info. Only those families associated with the individual schools may use these locations.
A typical Harvest Box will consist of 8 to 9 different vegetables and 1 fruit. This spring you can expect such items as carrots, potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, artichokes, spinach, lettuces, peas, chard, kale, cabbage, fava beans, beets, radish, fennel, leeks, onions, green garlic, avocados, Mandarin oranges and our famous "Jerry's Berries" strawberries. We occasionally supplement our own farm grown items with produce from other local farmers who follow similar sustainable farming practices. Recipe ideas are included in each week's email newsletter and are also available on our web site.
At Rutiz Family Farms, it isn't just about growing fruits and vegetables, but about redefining a relationship between the community and the farmer. Our 30 years of farming experience enables us to offer the local community fresh produce using sustainable farming practices. The retail market stand, located adjacent to the farm's 30 acres of beautiful land just outside of Arroyo Grande, allows for direct sales of our farm products, harvested at their peak of ripeness and flavor. Organic fertilizers, no pesticide use, and extensive green manure cropping enables us to grow healthy plants while building soil fertility. When you buy your produce from local farmers, you not only know where your food is coming from, but you are helping the environment through reduced transportation and less packaging. Supporting local agriculture helps maintain our county's farms, supplies employment for our local families and preserves open space.
