April 2016 ChoraLink
Greetings--and happy spring, everyone!

The concert season continues in earnest for many of us. And what a privilege it is to be able to share our musical journeys with each new audience, to nurture our collective empathetic imaginations through the art of choral singing.

It's also the time those of us in academia think about saying farewell to our graduating class. If you teach high school, I would encourage you to have a discussion now about ways they can continue to sing after they leave your hallowed halls. In this month's Leadership Links you will find three very pertinent articles to help inspire that discussion. And then you'll definitely want to check out the Keep Singing Project for concrete tools to help your students navigate the college and community choir scene post-high school.

As always, I'm listening, and I'm here to serve.
ACDA Eastern Division President
April Leadership Links
Division Boychoir R&S Chair Melissa Malvar-Keylock brings us three good reads this month on why singing in choirs can and should be a life-long passion:

The Keep Singing Project
One common goal among chorus teachers is to inspire their students to be life-long participants in the joy of choral singing.

Now there is an easy way for you to help bridge the gap from high school to adulthood so YOUR students KEEP SINGING!

The Keep Singing Project is designed to help graduating seniors connect with the choral programs at colleges/ universities and local community choirs, and for college choir directors to know who the singers are among the incoming freshmen on campus. They know how busy we all are, so they made it easy to sign-up. Visit the Keep Singing Project to learn more!
