C4, the Choral Composer/Conductor Collective, slated to perform @ACDA Boston 2016
August 2015 ChoraLink
Here we go! I hope you're each as excited as I am to start this new season/school year. What a privilege we have to share the discipline, joy, and wisdom gained through the study of our art with the next generations!

This month's ACDA East Blog features yours, truly, but is really just a simple amuse-bouche of what will be a series of blog entries from the 2016 Boston Conference planning leadership. These folks have spent so much of their blood, sweat, and tears into putting together a conference that is not to be missed, and they're excited to share their vision for their particular specialty with each one of you.

So, keep an eye out for more Boston Conference information, and double-check that it's on your calendar (February 10 to 13, 2016)!

As always, I'm listening, and I'm here to serve.

This month we have a very interesting read from Melissa Malvar (R&S, Boychoirs):

ACDA Teacher Resources
The best resources are those from people who have been in your shoes. Here are some great ACDA resources to help you plan and bring you closer to your choral colleagues in the field:
  • ChoralNet is the vibrant online community owned and operated by ACDA where you can start a discussion about repertoire, ask the community for advice on just about anything choral, or advertise one of your upcoming concerts. And to always be in the loop, you can subscribe to the "ChoralNet Daily," an email digest with all of the previous day's topics listed in an easy to read format right in your inbox, ready when your coffee is. The best part is it's free--you simply have to register. If you haven't already registered, do so now by going here.
  • ChorTeach is ACDA's online magazine for choral director/music educators who are searching for answers and need fresh ideas or techniques to meet practical needs. The articles are gleaned from state ACDA newsletters around the United States, and are an invaluable resource and a breath of fresh air to those of us teaching choral music at all levels-check them out (you must be logged in as a member to read the articles).
  • The ACDA Mentoring Program is our most recent and exciting national mentoring program and. The program seeks to inspire excellence in choral music education, performance, composition, and advocacy by assisting our membership in finding allies in the never ending task of learning and growing professionally. Members wishing to find a mentor can now register at mentoring.acda.org
