Shenzhen Senior High School Lily Girls Choir, slated to perform @ACDA Boston 2016
July 2015 ChoraLink
Though summer is in full swing, this month's focus is on planning for the the upcoming year. We have teacher resources for you to check out, state conferences for you to attend, leadership links to follow, and--if you're not sure where you'll be in the fall--a re-introduction to the ACDA career center.

And if you're looking for great repertoire, July's ACDA East Blog feature is by Tony Leach, with the story behind his arrangement of "This L'il Light of Mine." To read the full article, and to view a sample of the arrangement, simply click through below to read it online.

Finally, I hope you've each had a chance to visit our new website. If you haven't done so yet, click on over to ACDAEast.org and have a look around. If you have feedback, simply reply to this (or any other) ChoraLink to get in touch.

As always, I'm listening, and I'm here to serve.

Many of you know that the African American Music Festival at Penn State began in 1995 with a single concert presented by Essence of Joy. The following year I invited choirs from the School of Music to participate and then in 1997, I coordinated an extended series with guest lecturers, recitals and of course a concert by EOJ...Read the rest at the ACDA East Blog

Leadership Links
This month we have two great links from Melissa Malvar (R&S, Boychoirs):

ACDA Teacher Resources
As the school year approaches, here are two great ACDA resources to help you plan, and bring you closer to your choral colleagues in the field:
  • ChoralNet is the vibrant online community owned and operated by ACDA where you can start a discussion about repertoire, ask the community for advice on just about anything choral, or advertise one of your upcoming concerts. And to always be in the loop, you can subscribe to the "ChoralNet Daily," an email digest with all of the previous day's topics listed in an easy to read format right in your inbox, ready when your coffee is. The best part is it's free--you simply have to register. If you haven't already registered, do so now by going here.
  • ChorTeach is ACDA's online magazine for choral director/music educators who are searching for answers and need fresh ideas or techniques to meet practical needs. The articles are gleaned from state ACDA newsletters around the United States, and are an invaluable resource and a breath of fresh air to those of us teaching choral music at all levels-check them out (you must be logged in as a member to read the articles).
ACDA Summer Conferences
There are still three state ACDA conferences left this summer, and it's not too late to make plans to attend. Remember: any ACDA member is welcome to attend regardless of the state in which they actually reside. Click on a state, below, learn more about these great (remaining) summer conferences:

ACDA Career Center
Are you actively looking for a job in the choral world? Or perhaps you're just open to new career options as they arise? Then you need to join the ACDA Career Center. It's completely free, and you remain anonymous until you give permission to be identified. You can search conducting and choral position listings, create emailed job alerts when new postings are added, or upload a résumé to the confidential database--even import from LinkedIn.

And if you're an employer, this is where you will find the finest choral directors, teachers, and professors online. Unlike the passive job boards of yesterday, your posting will be pushed out to interested candidates, and you will be provided with the latest social media access, mobile compatibility, sophisticated search options, and candidate profile data.

Visit the Career Center today.
