Keystone State Boychoir, slated to perform @ACDA Boston 2016
June 2015 ChoraLink
This month I am excited to unveil the new ACDA Eastern Division website. After months of planning and execution, I think we've been able to clarify many things about the site: why people most often stop by, what information should be front and center, and what best resources can we offer to you, our membership. Plus, we've included some really great photos throughout the site submitted by you.

One of the most exciting design changes is the addition of our new blog page. The ACDA East Blog brings together every article written by our leadership over the past few years in an easily accessible and searchable format. The articles span many interests, and you can explore all articles in the "Popular Categories" tag cloud, or browse a list of "Recent Posts" in the right column of most pages. Each month we will include at least one new article, to be introduced in the monthly ChoraLink Newsletter; to read the full article, simply "Click through" to read it online.

I personally look forward to hearing back from you on the design and usability of the new site. These kinds of transitions are always a work in process rather than a finished product, so if you have an idea, please let me know! Simply reply to this (or any other) ChoraLink to get in touch. As always, I'm listening, and I'm here to serve.

ACDAEast Blog: Engaged Rehearsals
by Joy Hirokawa
R&S Chair for Children's and Community Youth Choir

Engagement. We hear this buzzword a lot. Are you "engaging" your choirs in rehearsal? What does that even mean? They are singing, so they must be "engaged," right? But we all can tell when our singers are not engaged. The bored face, the glances around the room, the slumped posture, the tuning out as soon as a different voice part is being rehearsed. So, how do you get them engaged?  Read the rest at the ACDA East Blog...

This month we have links from Melissa Malvar (R&S, Boychoirs), Elisa Dekaney (R&S, Ethnic & Multicultural Perspectives), and Joy Hirokawa (R&S, Children's and Community Youth Choir):
