Happy Thanksgiving! I hope that you are all able to "step off the treadmill" for a moment this weekend in order to spend some meaningful time to connect with family, friends, and colleagues. There is, perhaps, nothing for which we can be more thankful for than these treasured relationships.
In fact, membership in ACDA is all about building
relationships by connecting all of us in meaningful ways throughout the year. Of course one of the most meaningful "connection events" is coming right around the corner in February: the National Conference. I do hope that many of you are able to join us in Salt Lake City-and if you are able to join us, I'd like to personally invite you to the Eastern Division Reception. Here are the details:
- Thursday evening, February 26th, 2015
- 10 p.m. to Midnight
- Room 150 G of the Salt Palace Convention Center.
There will be free food, an open bar, and many friends, old and new, waiting to say hello.
As always, we're listening, and we're here to serve.

Announcing the ACDA Mentoring Program
The ACDA Mentoring Program is launching its first nationwide mentoring program on December 1, 2014! The development of our new national mentoring program promises to be one of the best uses of our resources-human and financial-as we seek to inspire excellence in choral music education, performance, composition, and advocacy. The program aims to assist our membership in finding allies in the never ending task of learning and growing professionally. Members wishing to find a mentor can begin registering on December 1. For more information and to register, visit the ACDA Mentoring website at mentoring.acda.org.

SingUp Wrap-up!
Our Sing-up! membership campaign closed last week, and just like last year it was an unmitigated success. Winding up once again with a 10% growth nationally, ACDA is now over 20,000(!) members strong nation-wide, with growth in the Eastern Division coming in at 7.2%! Our own New York State ended up in the Top 5 states nationally for growth in active membership (23.5%), and Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island joined New York in achieving over 10% in overall membership. Congrats!
Even though the drive has ended, several membership programs are still active:
Thanks to Michelle Emeric, Eastern Division Membership Chair, and all of our state leadership for making this drive such a success!

Leadership Links
- Heather suggests this lovely summary of all the reasons why the study of music is so beneficial. A great piece of choral advocacy!
- Melissa wants to remind you why you should sing... Even if only in the shower!
- Elisa wants to give you Free Brazilian Choral Music, with recordings of choirs singing, PDFs of all scores, IPA transcriptions, recording of Portuguese pronunciation, and information about the pieces in English. Elisa was part of this project, sponsored by the Brazilian Government, and would be glad to entertain any questions or requests!

ACDA Career Center
Are you actively looking for a job in the choral world? Or perhaps you're just open to new career options as they arise?
It's completely free, and you remain anonymous until you give permission to be identified. You can search conducting and choral position listings, create emailed job alerts when new postings are added, or upload a résumé to the confidential database - even import from LinkedIn.
And if you're an employer, this is where you will find the finest choral directors, teachers, and professors online. Unlike the passive job boards of yesterday, your posting will be pushed out to interested candidates, and you will be provided with the latest social media access, mobile compatibility, sophisticated search options, and candidate profile data.

A Call for Donations to the Kegerreis Scholarship Fund
Richard Kegerreis (1928-2002) contributed enormously to ACDA through his service as editor of the Eastern Division's Troubadour, as national coordinator of newsletter editors, and as editor of New York's state newsletter Choral Cues. To honor these contributions, as well as his life as a dedicated choral conductor and mentor, the Board of the Eastern Division in 2002 established the Kegerreis ACDA Eastern Division Conference Scholarships.
Your donation to the fund is the gift of a transformative experience for our future conductors. Donate today by clicking here.
