"...to inspire excellence in choral music through
Education, Performance, Composition, and Advocacy."

October 2014 ChoraLink
October has been busy for your Eastern Division Leadership. The 2016 Planning committee and Divisional R&S Chairs convened in Boston, inspected sites and venues, and began dreaming big about our next Divisional Conference (Boston, February 10-13, 2016--save the date!). Our theme for 2016 is "Pushing Boundaries," and I'm so excited by where it is already taking us....

Speaking of your Eastern Division Leadership, I've not seen a more inspirational and knowledgeable group--and they're all here for you to take advantage of! In the coming months I'll be highlighting individuals from this cadre of choral experts, and sharing their "Leadership Links" to specific articles and posts that they would like to share with you.

As always, we're listening, and we're here to serve.

ACDA Eastern Division President

Leadership Links
This month we have recommendations from Heather Buchanan (College & University R&S), Melissa Malvar  (Boychoir R&S), and Andrew Clark (Invited Choirs Chair).
  • Heather suggests this TEDx talk by Stacy Horn on the many benefits of joining a choir. A great piece of choral advocacy!
  • Melissa wants to get you thinking about access and approachability of the "traditional" concert situation, and recommends this blog post and this response (She's clear she doesn'necessarily agree with everything, but hopes it gets everyone thinking!).
  • Andy shares this amazing and clearly transformative collaboration that joined the Harvard-Radcliffe Collegium Musicum with the Joyful Noise choircomprising adults with physical and neurological challenges and acquired brain injuries.

Refer-a-Friend, get free stuff!
Ever wished there were a quick link to share with a colleague or student that would explain the many benefits of an ACDA Membership? Well, now there is! The National SingUp website is a great place to refer someone interested in getting a 10,000 foot view of all that ACDA provides-and it's also not a bad place to go to remind yourself of everything ACDA offers. And when you refer a friend for membership, ACDA will thank both of you with a set of hand-selected and previously unreleased recordings of choral performances from ACDA's division conferences.

Go to www.ACDASingUp.org now, and refer a friend!

ACDA Career Center
Are you actively looking for a job in the choral world? Or perhaps you're just open to new career options as they arise?

Then you need to join the new ACDA Career Center.
It's completely free, and you remain anonymous until you give permission to be identified. You can search conducting and choral position listings, create emailed job alerts when new postings are added, or upload a résumé to the confidential database - even import from LinkedIn.

And if you're an employer, this is where you will find the finest choral directors, teachers, and professors online. Unlike the passive job boards of yesterday, your posting will be pushed out to interested candidates, and you will be provided with the latest social media access, mobile compatibility, sophisticated search options, and candidate profile data.

Visit the Career Center today.
A Call for Donations to the Kegerreis Scholarship Fund
ACDA East invites you to make a tax-deductible donation to the Kegerreis Scholarship Fund

Richard Kegerreis (1928-2002) contributed enormously to ACDA through his service as editor of the Eastern Division's Troubadour, as national coordinator of newsletter editors, and as editor of New York's state newsletter Choral Cues. To honor these contributions, as well as his life as a dedicated choral conductor and mentor, the Board of the Eastern Division in 2002 established the Kegerreis ACDA Eastern Division Conference Scholarships.

Your donation to the fund is the gift of a transformative experience for our future conductors. Donate today by clicking here.
