The Teenage Years: More Food Battles?

As children get older, the "but I only eat things dipped in ketchup!" tantrums might be gone, but food can still be a challenge. When your once-picky toddler becomes a teenager, the temptations range from fast food to quick meals of processed foods high in fat and sodium eaten in the car in between sports practices, music lessons or general running around. The Memorial Center for Healthy Families offers hope and practical tips for families who want to nurture better eating habits for their teenagers. Read and be inspired!

Make plans to attend this year's Healthy Kids Day on April 30. This year, along with the Healthy Kids Day Festival, the Springfield YMCA will be holding a Kids Triathlon for children ages 5-14. Register today to qualify for a pre-event clinic the week prior to the triathlon, with bike and helmet checks and an overview of the triathlon route.
Tackle the Garage This Spring!
A garage is a home feature that's great to have, and it's the first place that gets cluttered with all those "extras" that can combine to make a big mess.
