We pledged not to complain about the summer heat during the winter tundra earlier this year, but wow, summer is here in full force! Stay hydrated, layer on the sunscreen and keep checking our updated FREE summer activities guide. Many thanks to Lisa Whelpley for compiling our local guide and our event calendar full of fun summer outings!
We just settled back from our first trip to Disney World--what an experience! I learned the value of being there at the rope drop and heading straight to the popular rides as the highlight was riding the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster back to back, and screaming the whole time!
Best,

Cathy has some great advice for keeping connected when grandchildren and grandparents live far away.
Read her tips here!

As we head into the longest days of the year, we know sunscreen is important.
But there are other important summer skin care concerns, too. Dr. Avi Viswanathan from  Memorial Physician Services provides advice on the biggest skin concerns for the summer:  prevention tips, strategies to deal with discomfort, and treatment suggestions.  Read more here!

Making a healthy lifestyle more of a priority for your family starts with parents leading the way and setting good fitness examples for their children. Click here to read four easy tips from Joe Thiel at Fitness Together. He provides great advice to be healthier and get your family to live better and stronger!
If you have a tween, consider moving the 1993 Newbery Medal winner "The Giver" by Lois Lowry to the top of the to-read summer reading list! The movie of the novel hits theaters this August. Springfield Moms contributor Lauren Coleman developed some great questions so you can have your own Book Club with your tween! Read her discussion points and advice here.

With Independence Day on Friday this year, some to  wns and organizations are holding celebrations early. We hope you'll use Springfield Moms to make plans for your family! See our lists here.
