Message from Canyon Crest Academy Principal, Karl Mueller

As we move into October, I hope you and your student(s) are settling in and embracing the CCA experience. Our first grading period officially ended September 26th, so be sure to check your Aeries account to monitor progress. This newsletter highlights our Raven Athletics program at CCA. Our new Athletic Director, Eric Smith, is currently overseeing six teams this fall: Girl's Volleyball, Cross Country, Field Hockey, Girl's Tennis, Girl's Golf and Boy's Water Polo. If you have time, please check our athletic calendar and consider attending one of our athletic events!

In reference to the often-quoted, tongue in cheek, CCA Athletics' unofficial motto, "CCA Football - undefeated since 2008", I want to stress that while CCA does not have a football team, there are many competitive athletic programs for our student athletes. Highlights for our Fall sports teams include a Field Hockey win over San Dieguito Academy to retain the coveted Bejewelled field hockey stick and Boys Cross Country is looking to repeat their 2013/14 CIF win. With over 22 athletic teams, our CCA students have plenty of opportunities to be physically fit, represent our school community with integrity and pride, and excel in their chosen sport.

Our athletics success is due in part to improvements to our Athletic facilities. On Friday, Oct. 10th, there will be a tour of CCA's Prop AA improvements to campus during the scheduled Coffee with Karl at 8:15 a.m. in the Cage. Please come out and see what is in store for CCA and look at the completed improvements on our field hockey field and the ongoing improvements to our stadium, baseball, and softball fields. For more information on our Prop AA activities, please visit CCA's Prop AA webpage or the District Prop AA webpage. Thanks to our Prop AA funds, more Athletic Fields and an upgrade to our technology infrastructure are enhancing our Raven experience this school year.

Please join me and our assistant principals, Jeff Copeland and Bernard Steinberger, this Friday, October 10th
at 4:30 p.m., at the 2014 Meet the Principal event at the Pacific Highlands Ranch clubhouse.

Go Ravens!

Message from the Canyon Crest Academy Foundation President, Amy Caterina

Greetings CCA families,

The CCA Foundation supports a wide variety of programs that enhance our mission: enriching the CCA experience for every student, every day. This month, the spotlight is on Athletics, one of our largest programs which benefits over 800 student athletes in over 20 different sports with many freshman through varsity level teams.

Thanks to generous donations from our families and community, our year to date fundraising efforts are right on target and in line with our prior year levels. You may support our athletic programs in a variety of ways, including volunteering at the team or foundation level, supporting the various team fundraising programs, attending our Oktoberfest celebration on October 30th or participating in the Golf Tournament on November 3rd.

If you get a chance, check out a sporting event at CCA!
