WELCOME TO THE 2014-2015 SCHOOL YEAR
A Message to Parents from Principal Karl Mueller

Welcome, Raven Parents and Students!

It is with a great deal of enthusiasm and pride that I begin my second year at Canyon Crest Academy. I look forward to collaborating with our dedicated Raven staff in sustaining a school culture where students are supported in building confidence and pursuing their passions.  As a faculty, we are excited to continue developing a community of learners who value and embrace the contributions of each individual on our campus.

I believe that students' experiences in high school are defined by the connections they share with the student body and/or greater school community. We are proud of the rich tradition of academic excellence available at CCA. Beyond the classroom, CCA students have opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities designed to enrich, challenge, and connect to build a culture of Raven pride.  Robust elective course offerings, the award-winning ENVISION program, competitive athletic teams, student clubs, the NEST, QUEST, our PALs, and ongoing ASB events, each represent opportunities for each child to get involved, foster healthy peer relationships, and contribute to our shared CCA community. We encourage each child to find their 'home' on our campus.

I would like to recognize the tireless efforts of our amazing Canyon Crest Academy Foundation; thank you for your generous support. We would not be able to offer the quality of programs or enrichment experiences without resources provided from the CCA Foundation. Please learn how you can become involved in CCAF, and support their efforts in assuring that Canyon Crest Academy will continue to provide rich and engaging experiences for every child, every day.

On behalf of the entire faculty, welcome back; we are excited to begin cultivating relationships with our new and returning students. It is going to be another GREAT year for our Ravens to soar at CCA!

A Message from Canyon Crest Academy Foundation President Amy Caterina

Dear CCA Families,

The 2013-14 school year at CCA was incredibly successful on many levels. CCA Athletics won two CIF championships (girl's field hockey and boy's cross country) and we had multiple breakout performances throughout the year. In addition, our boy's soccer team was a CIF All-Academic team.

On the academic front, we had multiple national and international award winners including the International Biology Olympiad, the Google, Siemens and Intel Science fairs and more. De-evolution, one of our competitive robotics teams, made it to the National competition.

In the Arts, CCA Envision program produced multiple theatre productions and was an instrumental (no pun intended) part of the success of our Across the Universe Gala in May where we raised over $120,000 for CCA at CCA. Since our Gala was held on campus, the Foundation was able to re-invest back in our school instead of paying an outside venue to host the event. The model was so successful that we are going to host Saturday Night Live at CCA next May 16th.

From a CCA Foundation perspective, our revenue topped $1.2 million, a 45% increase over the previous year.  Our goal for next year is $1.25 million. How will we get there? With the continued generous financial support of our parents and our community.

However, there is something else we need. More volunteers! As every graduating class moves on, we are faced with a reduction in the number of our volunteers. I am asking all parents to consider where their unique skill set might help the Foundation be more productive. Every expert volunteer reduces potential expenses. We are specifically looking for parents and community volunteers in the following areas:

  • Graphics
  • Social Media
  • Website development
  • Newsletter production
  • Email constant contacts
  • Writers
  • Grant Writers

We are also looking for individuals with fundraising experience.  If you would be interested in learning more about the CCA Foundation, please contact Joanne Couvrette, Executive Director, at 858-350-0253 extension 4005.

Please join us in making 2014/15 our next great year!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR GRAD NITE

Come to our Kick-off Meeting on October 7th, 8 am in the CAGE

Junior Parents - It is a CCA tradition that you help set up Grad Nite on Friday for the Senior Class since Senior Parents cannot work on Friday.  Next year's group will be working for you!  We would so appreciate dads and moms to work any set-up shift between 10:00am and 9:00pm on Friday June 13th. We especially need a lot of volunteers between 1:00pm and 9:00pm. You are also welcome to work during the night of Grad Nite to watch the fun in action.

Sophomore and Freshman Parents are also encouraged to join the SET UP and TEAR DOWN FUN! It takes many volunteers to make Grad Nite a success.

Senior Parents typically help with set up on Wednesday and Thursday mornings, work the night of Grad Nite and are welcome to tear down on Saturday!
