Avalon Historical Society Restores Painting by Avalon Founder
The Avalon History Center acquired and has undergone the restoration process of an 1889 painting by Joseph Wells, one of the founders of the Seven Mile Beach Company. The painting depicts the Avalon Hotel, residential homes, a forest and the ocean beyond from the viewpoint atop a sand dune.
The restoration process is currently underway with extensive and careful cleaning and retouching. This fascinating restorative progress and the full history of the painting can be found by clicking here.
