"This gracefully maturing Amarone is surprisingly approachable at this stage and undeniably appealing. No shortage of complexity here as expressed with layers and layers of progressive flavours. Classic with a good deal of life left ahead. Notes of cherry, fig, nutmeg and dried leaf. Sophisticated and impressively balanced. A bargain - tastes much richer than its price tag. Very long finish." Tasted February 2014, Sarah D'Amato

"A historic name in Valpolicella, Montresor is known for producing balanced, elegant expressions of Amarone. This provides slightly darker, riper aromas of black fruit, prune, dried currant and exotic spice." M.L.  January 2012
About Montresor

Mentioned by Edgar A. Poe in The Cask of Amontillado, the Montresor's have been involved in winemaking for hundreds of years. Originally from the Loire Valley of France, the Montresor family moved to Verona in the 16th century and have since become the reference point for the Valpolicella wine tradition.

Montresor produces DOC wines typical of the Verona and Veneto region including Soave, Valpolicella, Amaronedi Valpolicella and Bandolino.

In the panorama of Italian viticulture, Cantina Giacomo Montresor, considered one of the most ancient, encompassing over one hundred years of rich history.  Respecting its historical roots - four generations worth - means love of terroir, the fertile soil and rolling hills of Valpolicella. The Montresor family is dedicated to constant innovation yet stays true to the incredible terroir.

"From generation to generation, the Montresors have one aim: to develop their heritage of hundred years of experience and at the same time be at forefront experimenting new technologies. Always with respect for tradition."
