Single vineyard, mature Gewürztraminer vines planted by the Oatley family in 2000.
Alluring, textured, dry. Hints of rose water, lavender and lychee, finishing crisp and long. Hand-picked across three passes and cool fermented to dryness.

"This wine bursts from the glass with smack-you-in-the-face Gewürz aromas of roses, ginger and lychee, and doesn't let up on the palate. It's full and a bit viscous without getting blowsy, with lingering spice notes on the finish. An exciting development from a virtually unknown viticultural area. Drink now."  May 2011

Redolent in cherry and spice, with hints of strawberry, game and pinot's characteristic velvety texture, this is a subtle, seductive wine of great charm and poise. Enjoy slightly cooler than the usual Australian reds but not too cold as the acids will stand out.

"Light colour, although the hue is good; has cherry and plum aromas, the light palate providing more of the same."  February 2010

Another ground-breaking cross-continent blend of premium cabernet grapes grown in Mudgee NSW and Frankland WA, fermented at cool to moderate temperatures to capture the varietal notes. Individual parcels were matured in a combination of one and two year old French oak barrels prior to final blending.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Note

This wine leads the new wave of Australian cabernets that highlight the bright ripe cherry, blackcurrant and leafy notes of the variety. Generous 'forest fruits' - ripe red berries to the fore, layered yet soft tannins and a lovely crisp, fresh
finish that leaves you wanting for more. We suggest you pair this cabernet when serving firm cheeses such as cheddar or reggiano or with a meaty main course like grilled lamb, veal marsala or beef with mushroom sauce.

A few words about Robert Oately
robert Oatley
Robert Oately
Bob Oatley has built a diverse family business, from vineyards, wineries and cattle stations, through to thoroughbred horses and luxury tourism.

It's often said that success is all a matter of timing and Bob Oatley has that in spades.

Having enjoyed tremendous success marketing Papua New Guinea's coffee and cocoa beans throughout the world in the 1950s and 60s, Bob Oatley established the now famous Hunter Valley-based Rosemount Estate, producing his first commercial vintages in the early 1970s.

Bob stepped back from the world of wine in 2005, returning, with a sparkle in his eye, just one year later. He soon launched the Robert Oatley brand in the USA to considerable acclaim, and in March 2009 re-named his new wine company Robert Oatley Vineyards.

Over the ensuing three decades his wines developed an impressive pedigree - gracing the world's best wine lists and winning many of the highest accolades, whilst consistently topping sales in Australia, the UK, CANADA and USA.
