Argiano is thought to be an ancient place, full of history, where wise men searched for Ara Jani, the legendary altar of the roman god Janus.
At the summit of a wonderful hill, south-west of Montalcino, the magnificent Villa of Argiano was built in the Renaissance by the Peccis, a noble family from Siena. It's truly a medieval jewel, nestled in the heart of Montalcino.
Argiano's vineyards are blessed with a fortunate microclimate and enviable position both of which contribute to favourable development of the grapes. The close proximity of Argiano to Monte Amiata, one of Tuscany's highest peaks shelters
the area from bad weather. Consequently, all enabling Argiano to produce year after year high profile and consistently good vintages.
The creator of these superb wines is Hans Vinding-Diers. Vinding-Diers has been with Argiano since 2003. Before that he comes from a long line of oeneologists, growing up in Bordeaux and working on his father's vineyard. Hans continues to seek knowledge but adding innovation and creativity, while still respecting tradition.
Countess Noemi Marone Cinzano grew up in vineyards belonging to her family. World traveled, she returned to her home in Montalcino in 1992 and purchased Argiano, an estate of her own.
The Argiano vineyards have been producing wine since the 1500's, with most of the wine being served to nobility. Today, Argiano is known for quality wines of drinkability, and ageability!
