MAISON NICOLAS PERRIN Hermitage Blanc
Hermitage Blanc 2011
Northern Rhône Valley, France

PRICE:  $80.00/bottle
FORMAT:  6x750mL
AVAILABILITY:  SPEC, Very Limited Stock Available

Tasting Notes
After 2010 (a very balanced vintage) and 2009 (a powerful vintage), 2011 offered plenty fruit, freshness and body.

With its golden colour, this wine is already showing depth and fatness. The nose is complex with aromas of candied fruit and spices. The mouth is full and has a great length.

*2010 Vintage*

92 POINTS Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

"(made from 70% marsanne and 30% roussanne):  Light, bright gold.  Heady aromas of lemon curd, poached pear, peach and beeswax, with subtle vanilla and smoke nuance building with air.  Deeply concentrated but lively, offering palate-staining pit and orchard fruit flavors underscored by smoky minerals.  A floral quality emerges with air and carries through a long, sappy and penetrating finish.  This powerful, energetic wine should be a long-distance runner."  March/April 2013

Condrieu 2011
Northern Rhône Valley, France

PRICE:  $75.00/bottle
FORMAT:  12x750mL
AVAILABILITY:  SPEC, Limited Stock Available

Tasting Notes
After 2010 (a very balanced vintage) and 2009 (a powerful vintage), 2011 offered plenty fruit, freshness and body.

A shiny pale yellow colour. The nose is aromatic, exotic with notes of citrus and slightly floral. The bouquet is balanced and leaves a lovely impression and length.

*2009 Vintage*

91 POINTS Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

"Light gold.  Pungent, exotically perfumed bouquet of fresh pit fruits, white flowers, honey and anise.  From the fleshy, ripe school of Condrieu, offering lush peach, nectarine and poached pear flavors enlivened by a note of candied orange.  Finishes intensely floral, with very good cling and lingering spiciness. March/April 2012

MAISON NICOLAS PERRIN

Maison Nicolas Perrin is a boutique negociant which results from a meeting of two families who come from the two opposite ends of the Rhône valley, North and South.

In the North, Nicolas Jaboulet, who grew up on the hillsides of Hermitage, and the Perrin Family who has been in the southern Rhône, primarily in the prestigious appellation of Chateauneuf du Pape, since the beginning of the 20th century.

This geographical reunion finds its meaning in the phrase

"Axis Mundi." These latin words stand for the 4 cardinal points and symbolize the Côtes de Rhône region divided between the Northern (Septentrional) and the Southern (Meridional) appellations and right and left banks of the Rhone river.

They produce small quantities of wines in most of the northern Rhône appellations, sourcing them by the barrel from top vignerons and friends they have known for years. For each appellation, they source from different growers and look for wines that will complement each other. They then mature the wines in the cellars of the Perrin Family before bottling them.

Beginning as a small operation in 2009, the only objective was to produce wines of superior quality.  A benefit of the use of the cellars of the Perrin Family, fixed costs are very limited and as a consequence, there are no constraints to produce large quantities of wine in order to cover costs.

The first vintage was 2006 Ermitage red and 2007 Côte-Rotie, Saint-Joseph reds as well as 2008 Hermitage Blanc. All these wines received great reviews from the best journalists.  As of 2009, production also included wines in Cornas, Crozes-Hermitage and Condrieu.
