Biserno IGT 2008 Bibbona, Tuscany, Italy
PRICE: $179.99/bottle
FORMAT: 6x750mL
AVAILABILITY: SPEC, Limited Stock Available
96 POINTS Wine Advocate
"The 2008 Biserno is drop-dead gorgeous. A blend of mostly Cabernet Franc, with dollops of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot, the 2008 Biserno is rich, seamless and opulent, yet also beautifully balanced at the same time. A warm, open bouquet redolent of mocha, espresso, wild herbs and smoke leads to plush fruit as this harmonious, totally symmetrical wine opens up. This is a great showing. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2028. " June 201295 POINTS Anthony Gismondi (gismondionwine.com)
"The latest Biserno is something special. The nose is a huge mix of cedar and dried herbs and spice no doubt stemming from its mostly cabernet franc base. The attack is silky and elegant with fabulously smooth fine grained tannins that preview a whack of dark brooding, smoky, black fruits with a spicy dried herbs undercurrent. The palate is long and supple with just a hint of signature bitterness in the finish. This wine has a big life ahead of it; no need to really open this wine before 2020 unless lamb is on the menu in which case indulge. Terrific value." July 2012

TENUTA DI BISERNO
A project of passion, a dream for any winemaker.
The Antinori brothers, Lodovico and Piero, began the Biserno project together, having discovered the new terroir and great potential of Bolgheri's neighbouring commune Bibbona. Lodovico learned of the parcel of land from a colleague, and was initially struck by the similarities to the terrior of Masseto. Lodovico was also drawn to the site with soil inspiring him to plant Cabernet Franc, betting it would thrive in the site's conditions, complex mineral rich soils lending those characters to the wine. Lodovico and Piero decided they couldn't resist the breathtaking panorama of the property and beautiful views of the Tyreanean Sea.
Together, Piero and Lodovico, are investing their passion and commitment to innovation toward producing wines with complexity, depth, approachability, and age ability.
Biserno is their estate wine, representing the pinnacle of all of the achievements at Tenuta di Biserno. Only the very finest grapes are selected for this blend, which is a carefully crafted balance of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and a very small quantity of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot.
In the best vintages, such as 2007 and 2008, Biserno is a wine of depth, intensity, complexity, longevity and elegance.
