FORMAT: 6x750mL GRAPES: 100% Marsanne Blanche

Our wine is made from Marsanne grapes from vines with an average age of 20 years. The grapes come from different terroirs. In the north, granite slopes from "Les Pends" (with limestone on the surface) and in the South, stony soils on the locality of Chanos Curson. We aim to keep the finesse and minerality (vines from Les Pends) and at the same time, length and body (vines from Chanos Curson).

Gismondi On Wine, January 2013
"Intense black cherry, blackberry jam nose laced with pepper, liquorice, vanilla, meaty, savoury aromas. The attack is fresh, the palate suave with light tannins and a hint of sweetness/ripeness of fruit. Very ripe blackberry, prunes and peppery, vanilla with bits of liquorice and chocolate. Lots of ripe, sweet fruit with a very warm alcoholic finish. A monster style best served with a grilled leg of lamb."

"Deep ruby. Cassis, minerals and bitter chocolate on the fragrant, high-pitched nose. Juicy, pure and sharply delineated, with lively cassis, bitter cherry and violet flavors nicely lifted by juicy acidity. Finishes with firm, youthful tannins, bright minerality and juicy black fruit and violet flavors. Much of this fruit came from the granitic soils of Mauves . . . " March 2012

Maison Nicolas Perrin is a boutique negociant which results from a meeting of two families who come from the two opposite ends of the Rhône valley, North and South. In the North, Nicolas Jaboulet, who grew up on the hillsides of Hermitage, and the Perrin Family who has been in the southern Rhône, primarily in the prestigious appellation of Chateauneuf du Pape, since the beginning of the 20th century.
This geographical reunion finds its meaning in the phrase
"Axis Mundi." These latin words stand for the 4 cardinal points and symbolize the Côtes de Rhône region divided between the Northern (Septentrional) and the Southern (Meridional) appellations and right and left banks of the Rhone river.
They produce small quantities of wines in most of the northern Rhône appellations, sourcing them by the barrel from top vignerons and friends they have known for years. For each appellation, they source from different growers and look for wines that will complement each other. They then mature the wines in the cellars of the Perrin Family before bottling them.
Beginning as a small operation in 2009, the only objective was to produce wines of superior quality. A benefit of the use of the cellars of the Perrin Family, fixed costs are very limited and as a consequence, there are no constraints to produce large quantities of wine in order to cover costs.
The first vintage was 2006 Ermitage red and 2007 Côte-Rotie, Saint-Joseph reds as well as 2008 Hermitage Blanc. All these wines received great reviews from the best journalists. As of 2009, production also included wines in Cornas, Crozes-Hermitage and Condrieu.
