TWENTY Quilts Debut
|
A stunning group of small quilts from 24 U.S. states, Spain, England, Belgium, Canada and Australia have poured into the Alliance's offices in Asheville since early spring. We received ninety quilts in all, and I think you'll be impressed by how different these quilts are, each expressing a unique interpretation of "TWENTY." The level of technical and artistic skill demonstrated in entries to our annual contest just keeps rising, year after year. The larger 20" x 20" size (in honor of our 20th anniversary year) makes a dramatic impression, too. You can view all of the quilts on our website here and also on a TWENTY Flickr page here. Here are a few of the quilts donated by Quilt Alliance board and advisory council members. These quilts are not eligible to be voted on, but you can sure bid on them along with the rest, when our eBay auction gets underway on November 11, 2013. | 01. "The Mocha Tree" by Yvonne Porcella, Arnold, California |
 | 02. "QA at 20" by Yvonne Porcella, Arnold, California |
 | 07. "Twenty Years in the Garden" by Allison Aller, Washougal, Washington |
 | 60. "Twenty Minutes" by Pauline Macaulay, London, England |
Member voting is underway now to determine the Members Choice Awards (1st, 2nd, 3rd place and Honorable Mention). Members have until 12 midnight Eastern on Saturday, June 29 to cast their vote. If you are a Quilt Alliance member and did not receive your voting ballot, please email us. Our gracious and enthusiastic panel of professional judges, Marianne Fons, Paula Nadelstern and Mark Lipinski will choose our Grand Prize winner, who will receive an HQ Sweet Sixteen machine quilting system by Handi Quilter, Inc. Mark will reveal the Grand Prize and Member's Choice winners on his Internet talk radio show, Creative Mojo with Mark Lipinski, on Wednesday, July 3. "Mojo" airs from 3:00-5:00 pm Eastern, so be sure to tune in to find out the winners! You can listen live here: http://toginet.com/shows/creativemojo, or download and listen to the podcast after the show airs. We'll post the winners to our website and Facebook page shortly after the show!
