TWENTY Contest Deadline Extended to June 1!
|
We invite all quilters, beginners to advanced, to enter our annual contest to support the Alliance and its projects. This year in honor of our 20th Anniversary we chose a broad theme that celebrates TWENTY: the numeral, the concept, the quantity, the word. All techniques and materials are encouraged. Entries are a donation to the Alliance and will be auctioned on eBay following a national exhibition tour. The Grand Prize winner will receive an HQ Sweet Sixteen machine quilting system by Handi Quilter, Inc. Full details and downloadable entry form here. New postmark deadline: June 1, 2013. Sneak a peek at the first entries! We've posted detail photos of each quilt on the Quilt Alliance Flickr page. Terry Stegmiller's is shown above. Full photos will be posted in a gallery on the Alliance website after June 1.

New Go Tell It at the Quilt Show Interviews Recorded at QuiltCon
|
Seven new interviews for the Go Tell It at the Quilt Show! project were conducted at QuiltCon in Austin, Texas, February 21-24. Go Tell It! is a new Alliance project designed to capture the stories of quilts where quiltmakers and quilt lovers gather. The protocol for Go Tell It! is brief and personal: one person talking about one quilt in front of one video camera for three minutes, recording the most essential and compelling details of the quilt according to the "teller."
Go Tell It! is in the pilot stage now and designed to be a grassroots oral history project.
The Quilt Alliance launched the project in June 2012 at the Original Sewing & Quilt Expo in Raleigh, North Carolina.
View the first three videos conducted at QuiltCon below and on the Quilt Alliance Youtube channel.
