Dear APG Members:

 

 

The Board of Directors is pleased to share news of leadership transitions taking place at APG.

 

 

On October 14, Chip Standifer was elected Chairman of the Board. He fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Edwin Robinson. Chip has been APG Secretary for six years. He brings leadership skills from both non-profit and business experience.

Much appreciation goes out to Edwin Robinson for his generous and inspired contributions to APG, most notably the establishment of the Print Purchase Awards. Edwin served as Chairman for six years. We wish him well and look forward to his continued involvement with APG's Legacy Projects.

Reis Birdwhistell, an APG Board Member since 2007 and invaluable volunteer, was recently elected Vice Chair.

Spencer Sloan is APG's newly elected Secretary. Spencer is a working artist and recently opened his gallery next door to APG. You will find Spencer in the APG Gallery noon to four on Fridays.

In September, Executive Director, Polly Barr announced to the Board that she would be resigning at the end of 2014. She stated the organization is stable and the time is right for a transition. Polly has served as APG's director since 2007, following many years as an active volunteer. During her time as director, she strengthened APG's infrastructure and was instrumental in growing our dedicated volunteer base. Polly will continue to be a valued friend of APG.

With careful consideration, the Board formed a search subcommittee for a new director. After researching options, the subcommittee recommended to the Board that they consider Beth Lilly for the position of APG Executive Director. Beth accepted the position which will commence on January 1, 2015. Beth is uniquely qualified for the position and the board is pleased to have someone with such strong experience. She is both an APG Board member and an exhibiting artist, with a background managing photographic editing, exhibition and archiving departments at Turner Broadcasting before pursuing her photography full time.  Beth is presently training with Polly and our crew of active volunteers.

2015 is sure to be an exciting year for Atlanta Photography Group!

Please join the Board of Directors in celebration of another good year at APG.  On December 17, at 7:30 pm, we will hold our annual Members' Meeting. Please save the date, come out and enjoy a drink, some appetizers and networking with fellow members. The Board of Directors will bring you up to date on the state of the organization and take your questions and comments. Stay tuned for exciting information regarding the Members Meeting.
