SPEAKING OF PHOTOGRAPHY | PHOTOJOURNALIST, LOUIE FAVORITE WEDNESDAY, APRIL 16 | 7:30PM
|
|
Louie Favorite is a self-taught freelance photographer who recently retired from a 33 year career as a photojournalist at the Atlanta Journal Constitution. During this month's Speaking of Photography, Favorite will be sharing photos from his travels and speaking about his early career as a photojournalist, which began well before the advent of phone cameras and iReports.
Favorite started his career at small newspapers, but soon found his way to Atlanta where he enjoyed the general assignments offered by a large newspaper like the AJC. These types of assignments took him to the war-torn areas of Iraq, in cities like Ramadi, Al Anbar, which was considered in 2007 to be the most dangerous city in the world. In Iraq, he captured the aftermath of suicide bombers, the trauma rooms of the 28th Combat Support

Hospital in Central Baghdad's Green Zone, and the routine neighborhood patrols by the U.S. military.
Favorite's moving photography from Iraq is only a fraction of a broad body of work that spans many areas, including street photography from Sydney to Paris, fashion shoots in the Chattahoochee, and mouth-watering delicacies in award winning restaurants. Join us next Wednesday to learn more about Louie Favorite and the pivotal moments he has captured with his camera during his career. Favorite is now enjoying his time traveling and freelancing in Atlanta and the South.
