"A Fresh Look at Photographic Ideas and Materials"

Concepts Logo

DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES: MAY 18 (DELIVERY JUNE 21)

Show Dates: June 28 - August 24, 2013

Jurored by Stuart Horodner, artistic director of Atlanta Contemporary Art Center and Beth Lilly, artist and APG Board Member

Concept

Hypothetically, you wake up to a total failure of the electricity grid and the loss of power to your home, neighborhood, city, state, beyond.... Your digital files are gone. Would you be compelled to express yourself photographically? Would you look to the past at what you have created, what you wish you created? Would you look at what is left and work with it to create new art?

For the sake of this challenge, allow a self-imposed deadline to contemplate significant images, and imagine if you never experienced the images off of your monitor or maybe only a few prints remain. How would this affect you? Would it be the end of your photographic creativity or just a new starting point? Would your new work address your loss?

The judges will be looking for authentic, original responses to the Post-Apocalyptic Photo Challenge. Deadline for submissions is May, 18, 2013

Check out Beth Lilly's answers for FAQ HERE.

If you don't have three prints to frame, you can still buy the discounted package and DAS will hold a credit on unused framing for your next visit. Stop by their studio, or check out their website for more information!

LifeLine Logo
Fulton County Animal Services has recently come under new management by a nonprofit organization, LifeLine Animal Project, that is dedicated to saving the lives of as many animals as possible. With about a thousand animals arriving monthly and getting a quick webcam photo for the website, their intake photos often look like mugshots, which makes the animals difficult to market to adopters. The shelter is therefore always in desperate need of photographers to take photos of their adoptable pets. If you are interested in helping LifeLine, please email the Volunteer Coordinator, Jillian Udelson.
