Exploring the Unknown! |
|
The faint chirps of crickets, the crackle of the campfire, smells of pine and wood smoke envelope you. As you stare up at the endless sky a shooting star puts the icing on the cake of this idyllic outdoor experience. Where are you? Okanogan Country! We have easy paved trails that wind through quiet forests leading to gorgeous cascading waterfalls. Hike paradise on wilderness paths leading to soaring summits and wide vistas. Whether it's a day hike or a multi-day backpacking venture, many people wonder what to pack: appropriate clothing and footwear, first-aid kit, snacks, sunscreen and plenty of water. With over 3 million acres of public land you can hike a lifetime and never pitch your tent in the same place twice. |
It's important to remember you are not the only one enjoying the wilderness - many wild animals call it home. Remote wilderness areas and hikes traverse areas where black bears, cougars and the occasional grizzly may roam. The U.S. Forest Service offer a variety of maps, pamphlets, guidebooks and details about the many trails and wilderness areas. |
Is roughing it a bit too rough for your liking? There are numerous parks with modern amenities next to world-class fishing spots or alongside our excellent golf courses. Bring friends, bring family! There's a huge chunk of world out there waiting for you to explore, experience and cherish. |
