Dragon Golf Classic

Thanks to everyone who helped make Monday's Dragon Golf Classic such a success!

It was great to see how the golfers, event sponsors, donors, volunteers and even local celebrities came together to support our cause - providing assistance to students through the Transforming Lives Fund for Financial Aid.  Because of you, talented and deserving students will be able to attend O'Dowd.

We want to give special recognition to the Dragon Golf Classic committee members who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the event: Molly Natsues (Chair), Jacqui Diaz, Joanne Ghiglieri '79, Terri Halstenrud, Jay McDaniel, Leon Natsues '84, Nicole Paez, Tony Ronzone '83, John Ryan, Mary Schirmer, Brian Shaw '83, Melissa Shilliday, Lisa Thompson and Dana Young '83.

Stay tuned for more details about how much was raised at the event.

Student Leadership Retreat

All students are invited to sign up for a leadership retreat, being held on Saturday, September 24, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., on the O'Dowd campus.

The retreat will be peer-led, mostly by seniors from ASB, CMT and S-Corps who participated in a leadership retreat before the school year began and are eager to share what they learned.

Students from all grades are welcome - those who are already in a position of leadership on a team,  in a club, or some other group, and those who see themselves as leaders.

You'll learn how to build connections and work on public speaking, event preparation and organization.

There is limited space, so sign up right away. First come, first served.  Cost is $10 to cover lunch.
Academic Support Event

O'Dowd's Academic Support Department is hosting an event for students and parents on Wednesday, September 28, from 7-8:30 p.m., in CES #1.  Come hear Academic Life Coach Gretchen Wegner talk about time management and organization routines that can minimize stress and maximize success.
Jamba Juice Day

Alright Dragons, how many of you play on a sports team? Or have participated in a spectacular drama production? Or have had an amazing teacher?

Being a student at O'Dowd gives you endless opportunities.  The Class of 2017 Scholarship Fund will make the O'Dowd experience accessible to students who might not otherwise be able to afford it.

On September 26 it will be easier than ever to donate.  Bring $4 to buy a Jamba Juice smoothie on the Quad at either lunch and support the fund!

Using PowerSchool to Support Student Achievement

PowerSchool is a powerful tool that helps students and parents track academic progress.  When you log in you will see  T1 (which is all work for the term except for the final exam), E1 (which is the final exam grade), and S1 which is the semester grade (which combines the term work with the final exam score).
Parent-Teacher Conferences

Traditionally, Parent-Teacher Conferences were scheduled after the first time that parents saw academic progress reports - generally in October.  For the past four years, we have worked to improve our reporting of academic progress in PowerSchool.
