O'Dowd Certified as a Bay Area Green Business
 After a lengthy and rigorous application process that included verification inspections to confirm the school operates in an environmentally sound manner, Bishop O'Dowd High School was certified as a Bay Area Green Business on June 27, 2016. The certification not only confirms that O'Dowd has made outstanding efforts to comply with environmental requirements, but has also achieved excellence in reducing hazardous and solid waste generation, conserving resources and preventing pollution. Dragon Golf Classic
Is a New Car an Incentive for a Hole in One?
A Hole in One! Shooting one is every golfer's dream. And, back by popular demand, we have an added incentive - the chance to shoot for a new car, thanks to Jim Moran '69 of FH Dailey Chevrolet. Golf with Celebrities! Did you know that 2015 NBA Finals MVP and Golden State Warrior Andre Iguodala and Oakland native and NBA Hall of Famer Gary "The Glove" Payton will play in the golf tournament?

We received word this week that AC Transit cannot fulfill our June request for bus scheduling on our silver days - the 1:15 p.m. dismissal days.
The library will be open for quiet study and our Academic Support Center will be available from 1:15 - 3 p.m. Students can work with tutors or individually if they prefer.
AC Transit will pick up at the regular time (3:10 p.m.) on silver days. The morning pick up is not affected and will remain the same.

National Honor Society News

California Scholarship Federation News
California Scholarship Federation (CSF) applications for the spring 2016 semester are due to Mrs. Promes in Room 11 by Friday, September 16. Four semesters of membership, one being in the senior year, are required for Life Membership status. Students will need a completed application, a copy of their report card (these can be found in the student and parent e-mails sent on June 21) or transcript and a $5 membership fee. Fall Parent Book Club
"The Awakened Family" Book Featured
We are excited to continue the Parent Book Club, with four meetings in the fall semester. The book club is an opportunity to meet in smaller groups with parents to discuss the views of contemporary experts in issues related to parenting adolescents and to share experiences of parenting teenagers. Sustainability Guest Speaker Series O'Dowd's Sustainability Guest Speaker Series introduces students to college and career pathways for meaningful environmental, social and economic sustainability fields. Materials Needed for Design Hub
The Design Hub is a new initiative at O'Dowd that coordinates student-centered design and fabrication ventures throughout the school. The Hub supports collaboration between academic, clubs, the student government, and service activities.
