Dragon Golf Classic - Don't Miss the Early Bird Rate
Warriors' Andre Iguodala, NBA Hall of Famer Gary Payton to Play in Event
 Exciting news! 2015 NBA Finals MVP and Golden State Warrior Andre Iguodala and Oakland native and NBA Hall of Famer Gary "The Glove" Payton will play in the Sept. 19 Dragon Classic golf tournament. This is the final call for the Early Bird rate for the event. Help us save you a bit of hard-earned cash by registering by midnight Aug. 19. Volunteers! We still need some event volunteers. O'Dowd Students Honored at 100 Black Men of Bay Area Scholarship Gala

Student Orientation Schedule
A welcome BBQ/Orientation for freshman students and their parents on Sunday, Aug. 14, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., kicks off the 20�16-2017 school year.
Check the orientation schedule on the Parents page of the school website for details about freshman orientation sessions/activities, set for Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 15 and 16, sophomore and junior orientation, scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 17, and senior orientation, which will be held Thursday, Aug. 18. All students are expected to attend orientation days, and must be in dress code on these days.
Friday, Aug, 19, is the first official day for all students.

Theater Productions for 2016-17 Announced
The Bishop O'Dowd High School Theater Arts Department has announced the shows for the 2016-2017 school year. The fall production will be A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum, a slapstick musical farce based on the Roman comedies of Plautus, and the spring production will be Legally Blonde, a musical adaptation of the popular romantic comedy starring Reese Witherspoon. Materials Needed for Design Hub
The Design Hub is a new initiative at O'Dowd that coordinates student-centered design and fabrication ventures throughout the school. The Hub supports collaboration between academic, clubs, the student government, and service activities.
As part of the emphasis on sustainability at the school, the Hub plans to utilize reused materials as much as possible. Check the list of needed items...

Junior Longrus '12 Recognized for Academic Excellence
Last month, Junior Longrus '12 was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court, recognizing those collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the 2015-16 season.
A double major in management operations and accounting, Longrus graduated from Washington State University in May with a 3.38 grade point average and is a three-time Pac-12 Conference all-academic honoree having earned first team honors as a senior and second team as a sophomore and junior.
