Please attend this important meeting Wed. Nov. 19th at 6pm. Good planning requires the input of many, so please make it a priority to attend.

Sincerely,
Citizens for a Better Flathead

Here is the press release that Heart of Whitefish sent out about this meeting.

Dear Members and Interested Community Members:

Please come to the O'Shaughnessy Center Wednesday, November 19th at 6:00pm, for a public meeting covering the draft revisions to the Downtown Master Plan.  The 2005 Downtown Master Plan has been a great success resulting in completed projects like the Central Avenue improvements; the $3.5 million TIGER grant for the Second Street improvements between Spokane & Baker; the purchase of Depot Park; the Second & Spokane parking lot; the wayfinding signs throughout the community; and the future parking garage adjacent to the new City Hall.

These projects catalyzed over $9 million of private investment in downtown- and this is a 2012 figure!  More recently, we have seen great new additions like the Stumptown Market Place, the Tupelo Grille expansion, and new mixed-use construction at the corner of Second Street & Baker Ave.  We have also seen significant year-on-year increases in Resort Tax revenue generated by downtown businesses.

The planners Crandall Arambula are experts in their field, but the reason the original plan was successful was because a lot of citizens and business owners showed up and provided input to steer the planners toward a solution that was specific to our community.  The only way this will happen again is if the community and downtown business owners participate in the process.  The City Council has shown their commitment to the downtown by investing in planning; please take the time to participate and make sure that it is done right.

Thank you!

Ian Collins
