Whitefish has a GREAT Downtown Because
Business Owners and Individuals Like You Speak Up
for Planning that Respects the
Special Small Town Character of Whitefish.

It's time to speak up again!
Wed. March 12th, 7pm at the O'Shaugnessy Center

This Wednesday March 12 at 7pm, the proposed updates to the Whitefish Downtown Master Plan will be presented and public comment sought at a public meeting at the O'Shaugnessy Center.  This is a very important time to show up in support of downtown and to learn about proposed changes to this plan.

Don Arambula of Crandall Arambula, the planning firm that developed Whitefish's 2006 Downtown Master Plan, will present the proposed updates. The 2006 Plan has resulted in the improvements which have kept Whitefish economically vital and vibrant.  However, given recent and repeated challenges to Whitefish zoning regulations that threaten the health of the downtown area, it will be important to ask that these planners finalize the zoning for the downtown. It is essential that this downtown plan clarify and spell out the future pattern of growth that will shape the Whitefish downtown and provide the framework to discourage sprawling commercial uses along the highway entrances to Whitefish.

Twice in the past month changes to zoning outside of the downtown core area have been proposed that would have harmed the downtown by creating new commercial uses in areas outside of the downtown core area. Twice the city council has listened to the concerns of many who support keeping downtown Whitefish the commercial and business center of the community, and both times the council has responded by denying or drastically limiting the proposed zone changes.

It's time to show up and speak up again to ensure that the updates to the Whitefish Downtown Master Plan keep Whitefish the great place that it is.

The most recent version of the Downtown Master Plan Update can be viewed or downloaded on the City's website by clicking here.

Thanks for taking time to speak up for Whitefish's future!

Sincerely,
