This Week's Program Highlights

On Tuesday, we're hosting Westbrook High School graduate Morgan Rielly, whose passion for history motivated him to record the personal histories of local World War II veterans. These interviews are now part of a wonderful book called Neighborhood Heroes: Life Lessons from the Greatest Generation. Morgan will be joined by some of the veterans he interviewed.

On Wednesday, come to the Brown Library and learn about Maine Memory Network's online collection of bird's eye view maps.

On Friday, we invite the public to join us for a tea and talk by our New England Regional Fellow Kate Silbert, a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Michigan. Her research topic is currently titled "Committed to Memory: Gender, Literary Engagement, and Commemmorative Practice, 1780-1830."

DIGITAL HISTORY
Elvis Presley Concert Tickets
for August 18, 1977

MMN #22201
In our collection is a pair of Elvis Presley concert tickets for a show slated for this day in history, 1977. The rock and roll icon died just one day before he was scheduled to perform two days of shows at the Cumberland County Civic Center. He was 42.

Did you have tickets to this show? Many folks have kept their tickets as memorabilia, and others returned them for a refund. We'd love to hear your connection to this concert, or to "The King", on our Facebook page. The conversation is happening here.

View these tickets online. Reproductions are available for purchase, and are on sale through August 31.
