Sack Races, Scarborough, 1920

MMN# 40438
In 1920, the Portland Kiwanis Club hosted their second annual club outing at Eagles Nest in Scarborough.

Members participated in a number of games, such as this sack race, leap frog, a wheelbarrow race, tree climbing, tire races, and tug-of-war. They also played baseball, had a clambake, and went to Old Orchard Beach for airplane rides.

Prizes given out at these games included a Kiwanis pencil, a 10-pound bag of sugar, wool soap, a silk necktie, a fancy billiard cue, a sack of potatoes, a can of graham crackers, and a cut glass vase. To see more images of this day's events, click here.
