With today's technology, we take for granted capturing photos and video of just about anything we like. But in 1905, that wasn't the case. This image of a planned explosion on Henderson's Point at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard--the largest dynamite explosion of its time--is remarkable for capturing the drama and detail of the blast. In 2012, thanks to a Graduate Research Grant from Northwestern University, Ph.D. candidate Ian Saxine spent six months at our library researching how different ideas about land ownership between Indians and colonists led to decades of violence in frontier Maine. In this "Student Spotlight" presentation, Ian will share the results of his research.
