La St-Jean in Lewiston-Auburn
| La Sociéteé l'Assumption in the St. John the Baptist parade in New Auburn, 1962 MMN #18397 |
Today is St. John the Baptist Day. During the early 19th century, June 24th became the rallying point for the affirmation of French-Canadian identity in Québec. This exhibit explores how St-Jean-Baptiste Day was later interpreted as a public display of ethnic pride in Lewiston-Auburn.
