Historical Image:
Frank Hanscom and Amelia Gray, East Machias
 | | MMN #16967 |
Mid-April officially kicks off wedding season. Spring, as a time of new beginnings, is especially symbolic for young couples starting their lives together.
This image of newlyweds Frank Hanscom and Amelia Gray was taken on their wedding day, April 29, 1887. They are about to drive off in a Stanhope style top buggy, heading up river to Crawford, probably to spend their honeymoon with relatives.
Frank and Amelia raised a family of eight in Jacksonville.
