Also announced by Kobo this week is a Kobo Mini Snapback price reduction.

As reported in this newsletter last week, Kobo is discontinuing the Kobo Mini, so the price for the device has been lowered. Kobo is reimbursing stores for on-hand inventory as of Oct. 1. Please see the Announcement Archive (link below) for details.

 

This Kobo Mini Snapback price reduction accompanies the Kobo Mini price reduction. Kobo is recommending a new SRP for the Snapback of at least 50% off the current price. Stores may make their own decisions about final pricing, but must be aware of the recommendation.

 

Kobo will provide a $4.41 credit for every Kobo Mini Snapback case on-hand as of October 1, 2013. Please provide your inventory information via the Kobo Reporting Tool (link below) by October 15.

A select group of the new line of Kobo eReaders and tablets will soon be available for order from Ingram! (Check with your rep for exact timing.)

The eReaders are the Kobo Aura and the Kobo Aura HD, and the tablets are the

Details about demo units are still being ironed out, but we wanted to give you a heads up so you can begin to explore the options and what devices are right for your store.

The Kobo team is excited to announce that it has launched its Kobo Kid's catalog. Customers can now browse over 100,000 kids books, create an account for their child, and add an allowance to their child's account. Their child can log in with the account that their parents have created and buy child appropriate materials. 

Please note that kids enhancements on devices and mobile apps are coming later.

Kobo advises: Please note there have been reports of both Glo and Aura HD showing a blank screen when entering demo mode, as opposed to the demo loop.

 

This has been determined to be an isolated issue and should only impact devices activated and set up into demo mode in the past couple of weeks. The software team has released a new software update that eliminates this issue.

 

A factory reset and software update will fix any units having this problem. Please deactivate demo mode by searching "demo mode off" in the search bar. You can then factory reset by visiting Settings, Device Information, then selecting Factory Reset. It will take a few minutes for the device to reset. Please then reactivate the device either over WiFi or with the desktop app on a computer. Be sure the device updates to the latest software during this process to version 2.8.1. You can check this by visiting Settings, then Device Information.

 

Once the device is successfully set up, you can then re-enter demo mode by typing "demo mode on" into the search bar.
