March Greatness...
March is the month of the vernal equinox -- better known as the first day of spring. That's when day and night are each approximately 12 hours long. From this day and until the first day of fall (the autumnal equinox), days are longer than nights.
This is when daylight greatness begins every year. You could say days beat nights. Perhaps the perfect example of competition (because nights beat days during the other half of the year). Competition is at its best when the participants are level -- that is, when there is an equal chance of either emerging on top. If one side proves unfair competition to the other, then it's no competition at all; it's just one side exerting its superiority over the other.
In our personal and professional lives, we put effort to strive for greatness and achievement. In its truest sense, greatness is achieved, not when we are dealt a superior hand, but when we are even or shorthanded. That is when greatness yields maximum satisfaction and joy.
So let this month be your reminder to March towards Greatness!

Spring Forward:
Why We Observe Daylight Saving Time
What are the origins of daylight saving time? It was first suggested by Benjamin Franklin in 1784, but didn't come into actual usage until World War I, as a means to conserve energy. It's also claimed that observing daylight saving time results in fewer car accidents, as less people are on the road driving in the dark during rush hour. Another supposed advantage of observing daylight saving time is that it encourages people to be more active because they have more time to exercise during daylight hours.
Daylight saving time is observed primarily in North America and Europe. A United States Department of Transportation study in 1975 concluded that DST might reduce the country's electricity usage by 1% during March and April, but the a study by The National Bureau of Standards that reviewed the DOT study in 1976 and found no significant savings. Like it or hate it, daylight saving time is determined by Congress in the United States.
