QuickBooks Tip
New in 2013!
For all of you using QuickBooks Accounting Edition, there's a new feature in 2013 that can greatly improve efficiency! You can now Batch Enter Transactions, saving you maybe hours of time. QuickBooks 2013 Accountant Editions now gives you the ability to enter a batch of transactions for checks, deposits, and credit card charges. This is obviously a VERY useful tool for those of use who sometimes need to enter a large number of transaction into QuickBooks at one time. |

A Time for Giving Thanks...
It seems like the last few weeks I've been traversing time zones like there is no tomorrow (if you are worried about the "no tomorrow", just tune in to all the 12/21/12 talk on TV..!) From a week-long QuickBooks implementation project in Trinidad & Tobago to a long trek for a short stay in Anaheim, CA, to teach at the Sleeter Conference, to the Netherlands Antilles for the upcoming International QuickBooks Conference (see below), and the immediate turnaround to San Francisco to teach a QQube workshop. Just writing it makes me tired (!!)
Besides the frequent flyer miles that some would have you think I am amassing (don't believe the hype...), I am thankful for the journeys of my profession for they are rewards in and of themselves. I was invited to the recent Sleeter Group's 2012 Accounting Solutions Conference in Anaheim, to teach a session on software integration technologies, explaining how applications connect, as well as to be part of a QuickBooks deep dive panel session, moderated by Charlie Russell. As in past years, presenting and sharing with an audience of my peers is amongst the most rewarding activities. Another thing to be thankful for.
Only a few days from now, I will be in the island of Aruba, in the Netherlands Antilles, to lead most sessions at the 3rd International QuickBooks Conference. Once again, I am fortunate to be invited by our colleague Aubrey Pasial of Class NV, organizer of the event.
Within hours of my return from the Caribbean, I'll be off to San Francisco and lead a day-long QQube workshop, similar to the one at the Scaling New Heights conference in Nashville earlier this year.
In the middle of all this, last month we officially launched our long-awaited Mendelson Academy, to much acclaim. The inauguration of our state-of-the-art training facility was a resounding success with the "What's New in QuickBooks 2013" seminar on 10-11-12! Thanks to all that attended and all who made it possible. See bottom of newsletter for the upcoming class and course schedules, or visit www.mendelsonacademy.com.
Happy THANKSgiving!!!

Thanksgiving Around the World
Thanksgiving is a traditional American holiday we
associate with The Pilgrims of Plymouth Rock, some of the earliest settlers in America. Around the world many other countries also celebrate a form of Thanksgiving:
England
An early Thanksgiving festival began in 1606 following the failure of The Gunpowder Plot the year prior. This holiday evolved into Guy Fawkes Day, which is celebrated every year on November 5th with fireworks, bonfires, and other traditional rituals.
Canada
British and French Settlers started various Thanksgiving celebrations in different regions of Canada starting in the 1600's. Historically they were celebrated on different dates in different regions of Canada. As of 1957 Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving on the 2nd Monday of October, although the traditional Thanksgiving dinner usually takes place sometime during the prior weekend.
Germany
In Germany, Erntedankfest is celebrated in early October. Erntedankfest means "Harvest Thanksgiving Festival". The festival features parades and harvest dinners made with autumn crops. The celebration typically overlaps with Oktoberfest celebrations as well.
Japan
Japan celebrates "Labor Thanksgiving Day" annually on November 23. The holiday originated from an ancient harvest ceremony celebrating hard work.
The Netherlands
Many of the Pilgrims who settled Plymouth Rock migrated from the city of Leiden in The Netherlands. To commemorate these ties a non-denominational Thanksgiving Day service takes place annually the morning of the American Thanksgiving holiday in the historic Pieterskerk, a Gothic church in Leiden. This holiday celebrates the hospitality the Pilgrims received in Leiden on their way to the New World.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING FROM EVERYONE AROUND THE GLOBE!
