2016 - ISSUE 3
USA           PHILIPPINES          UKRAINE          NEW ZEALAND
"The hope of the future must be stronger than the memory of the past. Disappointment wants to find its place in your heart and sit where hope should be thriving. Disappointment squashes hope, and you know you have disappointment when hoping hurts. Hope not functional means no operational faith, because hope is the ground where faith operates. So cast aside disappointment, let hope live and faith will spring forth empowering you to take action!"
 -Ptr. Amy Muranko Gahan

MAXIM at LIVING PEARL, UKRAINE

When Maxim came to Living Pearl children's home, his life was crippled. He rarely smiled and he reminded us of a scared, silent "Mowgli". For a long time, Maxim did not even want to have a family. We have seen such positive changes in him over time and with lots of love and prayers.

Recently a wonderful family adopted Maxim and he accepted the comfort and love of a family! What a happy event for us as this is the goal of our orphanage! Please pray for Maxim and all the children who come through the doors of Living Pearl Children's Home. If you would like to change a child's life in Ukraine through monthly financial support of our orphanage, we welcome your partnership!

TRAINING FOR COMMUNITY AND CHURCH LEADERS ON RESPONDING TO OFW (OVERSEAS FILIPINO WORKER) CONCERNS

Global Impact's anti-human trafficking advocacy campaign Freedom!Philippines held the first of a series of trainings to equip local government unit officials and church leaders with the necessary knowledge, skills and legal foundations for setting-up and mobilizing their own mechanism to respond to the needs and complaints of families of OFWs. Many OFWs are subjected to maltreatment abroad, and many others are victims of illegal recruitment or other forms of human trafficking, thus the effort of Freedom!Philippines to do such activity. Training them to be empowered and equipped with skills and knowledge as the front-runners and first responders to their constituents' concerns.

Held last March 29-30, 2016 at Cinematheque, Davao city in partnership with the OFW Helpdesk Officers Association (OHOA) based in Manila, the said training had the OHOA founder and President Pastor Joe Biasong as the main resource person with Ms. Lorna Mandin from the IGDD of Davao city as his co-speaker.
