Coral Gables Interim Police Chief Named To Permanent Position
Chief Edward J. Hudak, Jr., a 26-year veteran with the department, has been named the new Coral Gables Police Chief after being appointed to the interim role in September 2011. The appointment was made today by City Manager Cathy Swanson-Rivenbark. "I make this appointment not only because of the highly responsive manner in which you have served the public this past year, as evidenced by the strong outpouring of support on behalf of this appointment, but also because of your personal commitment you have provided to me that you will lead at all times with honor, fairness and integrity," said the City Manager. "I appreciate the privilege to continue to serve the citizens of the Coral Gables community," said Chief Hudak. "I look forward to all the challenges that we face as a community and police in general. I am also ready to embrace a partnership within the Coral Gables Police Department, law enforcement and the community to better serve and protect us all." Chief Hudak has been with the Coral Gables Police Department since 1988. He has undergraduate and masters degrees from the University of Miami.
