NORTH STATE BIA INSTALLS 2016 BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Association also presents its annual industry awards
ROSEVILLE - The North State Building Industry Association (BIA) held its 73rd Installation of Officers Banquet today at the Hyatt Regency in Sacramento. The annual event brought together more than 400 members of the greater Sacramento region's home building industry to witness the swearing in of the association's 2016 Board of Directors, as well as the presentation of a number of industry awards. KCRA's Weekend Anchor, Kathy Park, served as the event's special guest emcee.
"Throughout my career I've been a member of several BIA's both in California and other states, but none of those can match the North State BIA in terms of regional influence," said Joe Killinger, the BIA's 2016 Chair and Division President of KB Home. "Whether its advocacy, business development, community charitable efforts or workforce development, this BIA does it all and does it well. I am privileged to serve as the BIA's Chair this year and look forward to working with the rest of the board to take our industry to the next level in what I am confident will be a strong year for us."

The North State BIA's 2016 Board of Directors includes the following individuals, who will serve on the association's Executive Committee:
- Chair: Joe Killinger, KB Home
- Vice Chair/Treasurer - Andy Davidson, Anton Development Co.
- Secretary - Rachel Bardis, Bardis Homes
- Immediate Past Chair - Barry Grant, Meritage Homes
The rest of this year's board is made up of the following: Rich Balestreri, Tim Lewis Communities; Aren Bazzocco, Taylor Morrison; Collin Brown, Timberworks Construction; Dragos Cojocaru, The New Home Company; John Costa, PG&E; Deana Ellis, Cresleigh Homes; Jeremy Goulart, Homes by Towne; Earl Keith, Lennar; Dana Krause, Umpqua Bank Home Lending; Michael LaFortune, Easton Development Company; Phil Rodriguez, Lewis Planned Communities; Vanessa Ryan, Umpqua Bank Home Lending; Toni Turnbull, Signature Printing; Chris Ward, D.R. The banquet also highlighted the support of and contributions to the home building industry in 2015 of the individuals below. - Chairman's Award: Honors a home builder who made significant contributions to the building industry and the association during the year for which the award is given.
- Recipient: Harry C. Elliott, III, Elliott Homes
- President's Award: Presented to a home builder who has given valuable service to the BIA and/or the community over a period of years.
- Recipient: David Ragland, GBD Communities
- Friend of Housing: Recognizes an individual who has provided distinguished service in support of housing issues.
- Recipient: Kerri Howell, Folsom City Council
- Meritorious Award: Presented to a home builder, subcontractor or associate member of the association for work benefiting the BIA.
- Nicholas Winn, WinSol Groundworks
"Each year, we feel it is important to honor BIA members for their exceptional contributions to our industry," said Michael Strech, President and CEO of the North State BIA. "Our award winners always go above and beyond to make a positive impact on this association and our industry more broadly. We are grateful for their dedication and passion, and look forward to working with them again in the year ahead." The BIA also recognized one of its former chairs, Kevin Carson of The New Home Company, for being named to the California Homebuilding Foundation Hall of Fame. Carson will be inducted at a ceremony later this year. "Our association's leadership and members would like to express our heartfelt congratulations to Kevin, who we all agree is the perfect candidate for this tremendous honor," said Strech.
