ICYMI: CBER's ERG Released

In case you missed it, the Center for Business and Economic Research (CBER) released the 2016 Economic Report to the Governor (ERG).

The State Data Center Program is a national cooperative program with the U.S. Census Bureau. Data Centers in each state assist the Bureau by disseminating Census data and other federal data sets and information.

 

Each Data Center has an internal statewide affiliate network to further assist in disseminating data to local users. These affiliates also have local information and expertise to offer.

Tennessee Voting-Age Population 


The U.S. Census Bureau released a demographic and economic profile of Tennessee's voting-age population ahead of the state's primary (March 1). To see how Tennessee compares to the United States by age range, race, and education, among other categories, see the Demographic and Economic Profiles of Tennessee's Electorate.
Census Housing Statistics Update

In January 2016, the Census Region 'South' experienced the largest volume of new houses sold and of building permits acquired than the other three regions



The South was just above the national average growth rate in new homes sold (-2.0 percent) and just under the nation in building permits (12.5 percent) compared to January 2015.

2015 BLS Labor Force Release

Annual 2015 state-level labor force data recently released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) indicate that Tennessee's unemployment rate was down to 5.8 percent, nearing in on the 5.3 percent national rate. 



Tennessee's employment reached 2.9 million in 2015, approaching the 2007 pre-recession employment level and 153 thousand above the 2009 trough.
