Hybrid Printing: What is it?
Hybrid Printing is simply the use of digital print head technology combined with traditional (offset) web presses. Infotrends reports the top players in this market segment to include Kodak (Prosper and Legacy), HP (M/C 500 and 800), Videojet (BX6500 and 6000), Domino (K-series), and Xerox/Impika (iEngine). It is estimated that 5,500 to 6,000 digital hybrid printer installations are in the market today.

Low Migration Inks
An area in inkjet that has picked up major steam over the past year is food packaging. Specifically, low migration, UV curable inks, for printing onto food packages. This increase in interest is evident by the number of packaging print shows that are now co-located with food, drink, and pharma shows.
Collins established inkjet ink patents in this area a few years ago, but with the increasing demand coming from the market, our portfolio is quickly expanding. This area is a complicated one, so if you have questions regarding low-migration inks, please contact us today.
